All shareholders are very pleased with the first year of operations and are committed to the long-term success of Nuna East.

Nunasi Corporation, the management of Nuna Logistics and the three community co-operatives of Pond Inlet, Igloolik and Hall Beach own Nuna East in partnership.

“Nuna East has proven to be an effective model of partnering utilizing the expertise of Inuit owned companies and community co-ops to benefit
Nunavummiut, our communities and clients.” said Okalik Eegeesiak, Chair of Nunasi Corporation.

“Through Nuna East we are able to create an avenue where communities can receive direct financial benefits and gain opportunities through business development and growth and employment and training from the industry development taking place in their backyard.” Continued Eegeesiak.

Nuna East specializes in remote northern development focusing on heavy civil developments, winter road and all weather road construction, mining exploration, mining, quarrying operations, construction site services, life of mine site support services and oil and gas support and infrastructure construction services.

“Nuna East has successfully carried out infrastructure development projects at Baffinland’s Mary River site and I hope the business relations between Baffinland, Nuna East and other Inuit owned companies will grow through
the implementation of the Inuit Impact and Benefit Agreement between the Qikiqtani Inuit Association and Baffinland.” Concluded Eegeesiak.
